Operating System- The software that provides direct access to information that is maintained outside of the Internet.
Output Device- A part of the computer system that displays information to the user.
Platform- The combination of hardware and operating system that defines the type of programs.
Professional Workstation- A computer system smaller than a minicomputer but more powerful than most personal computers.
Random Access Memory- A computers primary working memory.
Read-Only Memory- The primary storage of the computers memory that stores information.
Supercomputer- A computer that is faster and more powerful.
Syntax- The structure for entering and commands.
System Software- Softwar necesary to operating and maintaining a computer system.
System Unit- The case that holds the main, internal circuitry of a computer including the motherboard, disk drives and power supply.
User Interface- The visual portion of the operating system software.
Utility Program-A program that assists the user in maintaining and improving the operating system.
Virus- A program deigned as a prank that replicates itsel from onecomputer to another.
Windows-The common name of the family of operating sytems.
